Female Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Female information Minister of Pakistan
Although the list is limited, still, there are a number of women in Pakistan who are termed as success in Pakistani society. Some however may refer to the strength of the list as being negligible since women comprise almost fifty percent of the total one hundred and seventy million strong population of Pakistan. Nevertheless, the role of women in Pakistani society has increased manifold over the years with the quota for their representation in the National Assembly being increased substantially and many of them serving at key positions.
After Benazir Bhutto, better known as daughter of the East, serving as the first woman Prime Minister of a Muslim country and of Pakistan, others have taken the lead ever since she was assassinated. Notably, Dr. Fahmida Mirza, who is currently serving as the speaker of the National Assembly and is the first woman in Pakistan to serve the country in such a capacity. Also, for the first time, Pakistan has a female Foreign Minister: the flamboyant Hina Rabbani Khar dubbed HRK better known for her expensive handbags!
